South Bend, IN – On Friday, July 20, 2007 at Notre Dame University, the Penn State Majorettes walked away with the 2007 National Collegiate Majorette Line Halftime Show Team Twirling Championship title.  The squad displayed pure twirling excitement, school spirit and head on competition against other top collegiate majorette lines.  This was the Touch of Blue’s sixth time to compete at the National Championships.

Fun, friends and fabulous performances marked the 2007 U.S. National Baton Twirling Championships, sponsored by the United States Twirling Association (USTA). More than 600 athletes from 22 states participated in the Championships, which were held July 9-12 at the beautiful Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN.

Our friends from Europe invite American twirlers to watch the 2007 European Twirling Championships. The event runs from July 6th - 8th held at the Sports and Events Centre, Maaspoort's-Hertogenbosch - The Netherlands. WANT TO BE A FEATURE TWIRLER AT A PAC-10 UNIVERSITY IN FALL 2008? The University of Washington announces its feature twirler position opening for the fall 2008 football season. Come see what the northwest is all about and perform in front of the 73,000 fans that pack Husky Stadium on Saturday afternoons. Accompany the 240-piece traditional-style Husky Marching Band during pre-game and halftime shows with your outstanding twirling skills!

Li’l Miss Iowa has some pretty lofty goals.  And it wouldn’t be surprising if the 7-year-old baton twirler attains them.  Michaela Rader was crowned Li’l Miss Iowa 2006 over the summer, adding to honors and awards she has been receiving for many years.  The title will also add to her busy schedule, but Michaela wouldn’t have it any other way.

The University of Iowa and current Golden Girl, Diana Reed, announce the opening of the position of Golden Girl/feature twirler for the Fall 2007 season. The Department of Athletics provides a full tuition scholarship for the Golden Girl position, which can be used for either instate or out-of-state tuition. With over 70,000 loyal fans cheering you on each game, you are guaranteed the experience of a lifetime!!

Andrea Annette Birdcreek, former baton twirling champion and nationally renowned baton twirling coach and judge, died at home August 11 after a 16 year battle with breast cancer.

July 18th thru July 22nd, twirlers gathered to compete at the US National Baton Twirling Association’s (NBTA) national competition held at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana.

Purdue University will be the host for the third Intercollegiate Baton Twirling Competition which will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Benton Central High School. Benton Central is located about 20 miles northwest of Purdue University. This school has a very large gymnasium with a dome ceiling.
